Why I created the BOSS Newsletter & How to Use It

Welcome to Business One Sheet Solutions: Why I Created the BOSS Newsletter & How to Use It

Over the past 38 years, I’ve built businesses from the ground up — as a sales engineer, a systems guy, a marketer, and most recently, as the founder of BizPilot 360. And if there’s one thing I’ve learned the hard way, it’s this: running a business is like flying a plane while building it. Every new phase of your business brings a new task to figure out — and no one gives you the manual.

Whether it was setting up QuickBooks, creating a website, figuring out how to get Google Reviews, building ad funnels, doing email marketing, or automating follow-up messages… I always found myself asking: “Why isn’t there just a simple, step-by-step guide for this?”

Through the years I’ve created many business processes, databases, CRM systems, manuals, procedures, you name it. In the creation process, I found myself spending hours and days of time researching, watching videos, and reading blogs to build things that my business could actually use. So many information sources to this day are endless pages of paragraphs that might take hours of time to distill down into something useable.

These frustrations are where BOSS was born. You see, I like simple to understand step-by-step guides that can get straight to the point and tell me EXACTLY how to do what needs to be done.

That’s why I created Business One Sheet Solutions.

It’s the resource I wish I had when I started each of my ventures — a library of real-world, repeatable, printable procedures that anyone can follow. Each issue gives you one clear solution to a common business task, so you can stop guessing and start building your business.

🎯 Purpose & Why It Matters

Purpose:
The purpose of BOSS is to give small business owners and founders one crystal-clear, print-friendly playbook each week for solving a real business challenge. The idea of the One Sheet Solution is that as a business owner, you can collect the One Sheets and build your own custom playbook (what I call a Company Operating Plan) one task at a time without the overwhelm.

In addition, you will get up to date guidelines on how to use the latest AI and automation technologies to accelerate and improve each business process.

Why It Matters:
Because wasting hours digging through forums or YouTube tutorials is time you could spend growing your business. These One Sheets give you the clarity and structure to act fast — and act right.

🛠 Tools & Files Needed

This section of the One Sheet will provide a quick list of what you need to complete the task. I can’t tell you how many times I have launched in to complete a task, only to find that I needed five other items before I could complete it.

This section of the One Sheet will make sure you have everything you need before you start. This way, you can complete the task quickly and efficiently.

Here is an example of what you might find in this section:

  • Company Logo in PNG format (resolution = 1024×1024)

  • Primary Brand Color in Hex Code format (i.e #F2F2F2)

  • 2 Sentence Business Description (200 characters Max)

  • Software tools: (Canva or equivalent graphics program)

You will notice above that I have included very specific detail. These details are just one very small example of things that have cost me countless hours of delay and backtracking just to complete one simple task. If someone had told me up front that I need these things to complete the task (for example, creating my profile on LinkedIn), I would have been prepared and completed the actions much faster.

⚙️ Step-By-Step Instructions

This section will include the “meat” of the One Sheet. The intent here is to provide clear steps broken down logically that are easy to follow. Some One Sheets may be much longer than others depending on the task we are tackling. Generally speaking, you should always strive to do the steps one after the other and do not skip a step unless you have already taken care of it.

To use the Business One Sheet effectively, consider this process:

  1. Read it – Each One Sheet is written in plain English, so you can absorb the strategy and steps fast.

  2. Print it – Designed to be printable, every edition can be saved in a binder or stored digitally (this will form your Company Operating Plan).

  3. Do it – Follow the steps, check the links, and use the tools to implement the solution quickly.

  4. Save it – Over time, these sheets become your SOP Library — a full operating manual for your business.

What’s an SOP?
SOP stands for Standard Operating Procedure. It’s a documented way of doing a specific task. In big companies, SOPs are everywhere. But, small businesses often rely on memory, guesswork, or “winging it.” ….. That ends now!

With BOSS, you’ll be building your very own Company Operating Plan — a physical binder and/or digital database that holds every repeatable process your business depends on. Use it to train new team members, and refer to it every day to get things done. It will also help you delegate tasks confidently to other team members. Using the One Sheets will help you stay organized, grow your business smarter, and use the latest technology to automate your businesses processes - thus saving your precious time!

🤖 AI + Automation Boost

With the BOSS Newsletter, you won’t just learn how to do things — You will see how the smartest entrepreneurs in 2025 and beyond are getting them done faster and smarter using AI and automation technology.

This section will include specific tools and techniques to apply AI and/or Automation to a specific task. Here you will find:

  • AI prompts and workflows for all the best LLM’s

  • The best tools to use for a given task (including some you may not know)

  • No-code automations and templates to streamline your One Sheet task.

  • Step-By-Step instructions on how to use AI for tasks and steps within tasks.

AI is transforming every corner of business today — from writing emails to analyzing data, scheduling posts, generating reports and everything in between. The BOSS Newsletter will show you how to harness it for your business, task by task.
